I hope you’re doing alright wherever you are. Maybe still cozy in bed, maybe pretending to work, or actually working.
Guess who’s back? No, it’s not your neighbor’s noisy dog. It’s Paul Pogba. Somehow still only 32 and now officially a Monaco player.
After what felt like the longest coffee break in football history (thanks to an 18-month doping ban), Pogba has returned to the pitch. Originally, he was handed a four-year ban, basically a lifetime sentence in football years, but they knocked it down like it was a Black Friday sale. Juventus quietly waved him goodbye last November with a polite nod and a “good luck, mate.”
Now he’s landed in Monaco with a two-year contract that somehow stretches until 2027. I’m not great at math either, but maybe Monaco operates on dog years.
Pogba arrives with a suitcase full of experience and more hairstyles than most of us have socks. Monaco finished third last season and clearly want a bit of his midfield magic, or at least someone who’s survived training against Kylian Mbappé.
Whether he’s there to play easily through Ligue 1 or just boost the club’s Instagram likes remains to be seen. But I’ll be honest, I have missed the drama, and it’s nice to see him on the pitch again.
So here we go again. New kit, new chapter, and another chance to remind everyone why we talked about him like he was the next Zidane, or at least the next big advertising campaign.
Good luck to him.
