Television anchor Somtochukwu Maduagwu lost her life on Monday during a violent robbery at her home in Abuja. Former Nigeria president Goodluck Jonathan described her passing as a loss at the “peak of her potential” and called on law enforcement to ensure the culprits are brought to justice.
According to neighbors, she attempted to escape the armed intruders by leaping from the balcony of her third-floor apartment but was fatally injured. Witnesses report that the robbers overpowered security personnel and moved through multiple flats, stealing cars, laptops, phones, and other valuables from residents.

Her untimely death has sparked widespread mourning across Nigeria, with calls for stronger measures to protect citizens from violent crime.
