Kenya is preparing to export hundreds of thousands of sheep to Algeria ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Adha celebration. The plan comes after talks between officials from both countries to increase livestock trade.

A team from Algeria recently visited Kenya to check the country’s livestock sector and see if it can supply large numbers of sheep. The visit focused on finding farmers and suppliers who can meet Algeria’s demand.

Algeria is currently running a large livestock import program that may require up to one million sheep, especially during the Eid holiday when demand for animals is very high.

Kenyan officials say this deal could create a big opportunity for farmers and livestock traders, as the program could become a regular market for Kenyan animals.
